Yesterday,
he called her beautiful.

She wished it had gone like this:
"You're so beautiful, so pure, so angelic.
I love you."

It really went like this:
"Hey, beautiful. Wanna go to the movies?
Call me back."

Why are these two comments so different?
He did call her beautiful, after all.
But not the way she wanted.

She called him beautiful, too,
before this.
She said his face was smooth and his hair was soft.
She said she always wanted to kiss his lips.
She said he was beautiful.

Now, she's not so sure.
Because, after all,
'beautiful' is a subjective term,
and although he may have nice hair and soft lips,
perfect for kissing,
he is no longer beautiful to her.

Because, to him,
she was no more beautiful than
any other girl.

"Beautiful" isn't just a name.
It's a state of complete being.

And he wasn't, but she was.
When he hurt her, she cried
and wished she could find someone else
who was just as beautiful as she was
inside.
Define 'beautiful'.

Dear God this nearly made me cry... Almost wanna scream "Get it away!" But at the same time I think "This is so right, in so many ways..."
